PRO-BONO GROWTH PROJECTS Applied Consulting Engagements (ACE)
TAP-a-PM offers various learning and engagement opportunities to its members. The engagement involves classroom and on-line education on various topics pertinent to the real life application areas and domains faced by the project/program managers in their daily work environment. Besides the project/program exposure to the theoretical discussion of the topics, additional hands-on work experience in a real life environment of a 21st Century Company is most desirable.
The Growth-oriented Program/Project Managers (GoPMs) are generally seasoned, mature professional who are in the process of improving or growing their knowledge and experience base to gain expertise in new and additional domains. With the Applied Consulting Engagement (ACE) program, these GoPMs will bring fresh ideas, energies and initiatives from other (their current) domains of knowledge to the hosting company. TAP-a-PM is offering the following incentives and commitments to the ACE participating companies:
TAP-a-PM will:
1) Assign 2-3 (as needed) GoPMs for a mutually agreed appropriate project for ACE at the participating company.
2) Commit approximately 200 hours total on the project over an approximately 2 months period.
3) Provide one of the TAP-a-PM Senior members for on-site coaching of these GoPMs who will work with a mentor from the participating company.
4) Not charge a fee for this Engagement and conversely will not be paid for the work performed.
5) Expect a reference letter by the participating company if the work is satisfactory.
Participating Company will:
1) Allow 2-3 GoPMs along with a supervising TAP-a-PM senior member to work on a project under the guidance of a company employee as a mentor.
2) Identify appropriate projects and the associated mentors for the ACE.
3) Not be required to pay any wages or benefits to the participating GoPMs or TAP-a-PM senior member.
4) Not be obliged to offer any jobs to the participants.
5) Be requested to offer reference letters to the GoPMs for their performance during the ACE.
Key Points:
1) The ACE is the Engagement for the benefit of the GoPMs as well as the participating companies.
2) The ACE is an alternative to classroom instructions that provides real-life work exposure to the GoPMs.
3) The GoPMs do not replace or displace regular employees but work with them under their observation. The employees act as mentors.
4) The GoPMs should not expect a job at the conclusion of the ACE period.
5) The company and the GoPMs understand that the GoPMs are not entitled to consulting fees for the time spent in the ACE.
6) TAP-a-PM will have a separate letter of understanding signed by the company as well as the GoPMs to underscore the above points, and forms a mutual contract for the ACE duration.
7) In addition TAP-a-PM and the GoPMs will follow company policies and sign all appropriate company non-disclosures and similar documents.
